Russia Increased Caustic Soda Exports in 2017

Russian companies increased exports of Caustic Soda in 2017.

By the end of 2017, exports of Caustic Soda grew by 19% to reach 206.7 thousand tonnes. In 2016 this figure stood at 172.9 thousand tonnes. At the same time, imports of Caustic into Russia fell by 36% to almost 15 thousand tonnes (compared to 23.3 thousand tonnes in 2016).

According to statistics for 2017, 1.2 million tonnes of caustic were produced in Russia — 7% more than in 2016. It is worth noting that the production capacity of the main manufacturers was utilised at nearly 100%.

The leader in caustic soda production (on the Russian market) is JSC Kaustik — with a share of around 19%, producing 228 thousand tonnes of caustic soda. In second place is RusVinyl, producing around 208 thousand tonnes of caustic soda. BSK and Sayanskkhimplast produced 199 and 163 thousand tonnes, respectively.
