Fluorine Compounds in Raw Material Processing:

In the recent past, Fluorine compounds (Fluorides) were used mainly in the nuclear industry for producing uranium fluoride compounds (hexafluoride).

Now, most fluoride compounds are used to produce fluoropolymers.
Such production must necessarily have a closed cycle for the use of fluorine-containing raw materials.
This method provides the greatest benefit when processing polymetallic mineral raw materials.
Fluorine-containing materials make it possible to increase both the range and the completeness of extraction of compounds from polymetallic ores.

For example, recent research makes it possible to extract up to 82% of rare earth metals when decomposing perovskite concentrate using fluoride technology.

Experiments have shown that enrichment in solutions of Ammonium fluoride and Ammonia water of aluminum concentrates (nepheline-based) gives more complete extraction of components, reduces electricity costs, and decreases the environmental burden compared to the technologies currently in use.

Metallurgical technologies based on the use of fluorides have great development prospects. For example, when processing Bauxite ores, using Ammonium Bifluoride gives a higher percentage of Aluminum and Silicon extraction.
At the same time, this technology fully guarantees environmental safety.
