Yes, acid potassium fluoride and potassium bifluoride are two names for the same substance with the formula KF·HF. In documents the English name “potassium bifluoride” may also appear. When purchasing, it is important to check not only the name but also the mass fraction of the main substance, hydrogen fluoride content, sulfates, chlorides, heavy metals and silicon fluoride. This helps avoid mistakes when selecting a fluorine-containing reagent and accurately match the batch to the enterprise’s internal specification.
Potassium bifluoride differs from potassium fluoride in composition and chemical behaviour: the formula KF·HF contains bound hydrogen fluoride, so the substance has a more pronounced acidic nature. These products cannot be considered interchangeable just because of a similar name. When substituting, the process regulations, medium pH, equipment compatibility, hazard level and actual quality certificate indicators must be taken into account.
Acid potassium fluoride 98% is stored in a dry, unheated, ventilated warehouse, in sealed factory packaging and protected from moisture.
