Technical synthetic cryolite is stored in a dry, unheated warehouse, in sealed factory packaging and protected from moisture. Bags are placed on pallets, separately from materials that could contaminate the batch or affect its free-flowing quality. Despite an unlimited guaranteed shelf life, it is important to preserve packaging integrity, labelling and the quality certificate. If it gets wet, the powder can cake, become harder to dose and require additional checking before use.
The 200 mesh particle size matters for uniform dosing, free-flowing quality and predictable behaviour of technical synthetic cryolite in the production process. If the batch contains a lot of coarse fraction or, conversely, excess dust, the material may feed worse through equipment, distribute unevenly in a mixture and create additional losses during decanting.
