Reagents for Metal

To protect metal surfaces from corrosion, properly prepare them for painting or perform precise etching before soldering, chemical reagents for metal need to be correctly selected. An error in the concentration or purity of the composition immediately affects coating adhesion and the durability of the finished product. We ship reagents with a laboratory certificate, ensuring a predictable result in any process cycle for treating ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.

Practical application

  • Etching and cleaning of rolled metal. Ferrous metal stock is covered with scale after hot rolling. Nitric, hydrofluoric, sulfamic and oxalic acids combined with inhibitors (thiourea, hexamine) quickly remove this layer without damaging the base material.
  • Phosphating and paint preparation. Orthophosphoric acid combined with trisodium phosphate creates a phosphate layer on steel that serves as a primer and reliable anti-corrosion barrier.
  • Electroplating production. Ammonia, sodium thiocyanate, sodium dichromate are used as additives in zinc, copper, nickel and chromate plating baths to produce bright, durable coatings.
  • Soldering and welding. Zinc chloride, ammonium chloride, borax, boric acid and acid potassium fluoride form a group of fluxes providing quality joining of ferrous and non-ferrous metals without oxides.
  • Degreasing and inter-operation cleaning. Sodium hydroxide, soda ash and sodium tripolyphosphate are included in detergent formulations that remove oils and cutting fluids before heat treatment or assembly.
  • Preservation and passivation. Sodium dichromate, citric acid and hydrogen peroxide finish-treat the finished product, creating a protective film for the period of storage and transportation.

Advantages of our products

  • Certificate with actual values. Each reagent for metal is accompanied by a report confirming the concentration of the main substance, permissible impurity level and physical constants.
  • Direct supplies without intermediaries. We work directly with manufacturing enterprises. This excludes the risks of dilution, improper storage and confusion with grades.
  • Preservation of properties. Hygroscopic powders are packed in moisture-proof containers, liquid acids and alkalis are transported in specialised packaging that excludes contact with air.
  • Warehouse programme in Moscow. Popular items are always in stock, allowing prompt replenishment of etching and electroplating components without line downtime.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about Reagents for Metal

Which reagents are used in metal processing?

Metalworking and related industries use acids, alkalis, salts, degreasing agents, inhibitors, fluxes and auxiliary reagents. They are needed for etching, cleaning, degreasing, surface preparation, oxide removal, pH adjustment and process operations before coating or further processing.

How do you choose chemical reagents for metalworking?

The choice depends on the type of metal, surface condition, required result and the technology used. When purchasing, it’s important to consider the substance’s concentration, purity, compatibility with equipment, safety requirements, packaging and the availability of a quality certificate for the batch.

Which reagents are used for cleaning and degreasing metal?

Metal cleaning uses alkaline and acidic formulations, surfactants, solvents and salts that help remove oils, process contamination, rust or oxide film. The specific reagent is chosen based on the metal, the degree of contamination and the next processing stage.

Why does batch consistency matter for metal-processing reagents?

Even small deviations in concentration, impurities or moisture content can affect reaction speed, surface-preparation quality and consumption rate. That’s why companies pay close attention to specifications, quality certificates, storage conditions and the ability to receive repeat batches with consistent parameters.
